General Role Overview The Senior Engineer, Thermal and HVAC Systems will be instrumental in developing a state-of-the-art thermal system. The Senior Engineer, Thermal and HVAC Systems will be responsible for system architecture design, simulation, and testing of the HVAC and powertrain cooling system. Duties and Responsibilities Define thermal and HVAC system architecture. Develop Thermal and HVAC system requirements, test and validation plans, and usage profiles. Perform complete physical testing of thermal and HVAC system, both in vehicle and at test benches. Troubleshoot and debug thermal systems and propose solutions. Work closely with design and CAE team to create thermal system solutions that meet cabin comfort, vehicle performance, durability, and mass targets. Create reports and document results of tests and share with the engineering team. Highlight issues found and communicate to the testing team. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master of Science is preferred. 4 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in Powertrain Thermal Systems at an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies Proven hands-on experience with Thermal Systems performance attributes (e.g., range metrics, charging metrics, power consumption, Cabin Comfort, HMI, UA / UI, etc.), including a detailed understanding of the regulatory definitions relevant to global markets. Proven hands-on experience with requirements management tracking and ALM tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, JAMA, etc.). Proven hands-on experience with vehicle Thermal System performance and testing, including defining test and validation plans. Knowledge of HV Powertrain architecture. Familiarity with analysis tools, such as MATLAB / Simulink. Familiarity with Functional Safety standards (ISO-26262). Familiarity with DFMEA and PFMEA. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and organization skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Additional Requirements Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required. Working Conditions Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run. Additional compensation: Salary is one part of total compensation which includes bonuses, equity awards as applicable, and benefits. The salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education/training, certifications, key skills, experience, internal peer equity as well as business considerations.
