The Opportunity…
Program Management
- Lead and Manage the strategy and daily operations of workforce development department and programs
- In coordination with the Construction Department, oversee operations and manage the Installation Basics Training program and the Technical Academy
- Collaboratively manage workforce development team to recruit, train and develop a reliable pipeline of industry ready candidates for solar and related industries
- Oversee collection and tracking of job placement data; compile data and prepare reports and correspondence regarding job development and placement efforts in Salesforce
- Provide the Headquarters Workforce Development department with training program data and stakeholder feedback for continuous process improvement
- Collaborate with the project management & construction department(s) to utilize hands‑on training opportunities most effectively for job trainees and community partners
- Communicate with the construction department to ensure that they are promoting a positive training culture
- Collaborate with cross functional departments to develop and improve training opportunities
- Manage the process of identifying positions in solar and related industries; help students explore alternative employment options
- Support development of marketing and promotional materials to advertise job training services and activities
Partnership Development
- Establish and maintain direct relationships with community‑based non‑profits, local government agencies, educational institutions and job training
- Develop and maintain employer partnerships to create a robust network that connects GRID job trainees with access to careers in the solar industry and related occupations
- Stay informed of industry trends, conduct industry research, meet with industry employers to understand, and access workforce employment opportunities
- Connect with the local communities and represent GRID Alternatives through networking events, career/job fairs, industry events, conferences, and other meeting
- Prioritize relationships based on a number of factors including mission alignment and organizational vision
Financial Management
- Manage the program budget including developing budget proposals, justifying expenses, and monitoring expenditures in collaboration with the Solar Installation Training Supervisor
- Collaborate with Executive Director and Development team to leverage workforce development efforts and job training opportunities for programmatic funding opportunities
- Work with Administrative Operations Manager and Development Department on funding program allocations, reporting, post‑award implementation, and management of all grant allocated expense
- Coordinate with Director of Development and Administrative Operations Manager on budget modification efforts, as needed
What you need to bring to this role…
- 3+ years experience in non‑profit program or project management
- Candidate must be committed to the GRID Alternatives mission to advance equity, inclusion, and diversity work within a framework of social, economic, and environmental justice
- Work independently with minimum supervision; monitor, track and compile information and data
- Candidate must be able to prioritize conflicting needs; manage urgent matters expeditiously, calmly, and proactively; this position requires analytic, organization and critical thinking skills
- Independent and collaborative contributor, candidate must embrace flexibility and adaptability in challenging environments without compromising focus or quality
- Relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with labor market conditions and trends
- Knowledge of local community resources and professional organizations
- Ability to speak and write passionately about GRID’s work
- Experience in meeting planning and facilitation
It would be great if you also had…
- 3‑5 years of overall workforce development experience; financial, contract and/or grant management experienced
- Experience with contracts and/or grants management
- Knowledge of Salesforce, Paycom, Concur, and reporting software
- In‑depth knowledge of the solar/renewable energy industry
- Trauma‑informed care training
- Proficiency in another language, preferably Spanish
