THE ROLE
This role can be remote or in any of our Irish offices - Cork, Dublin, Limerick or Galway.
We are seeking a skilled Sustainability Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating energy-related projects or programs aimed at reducing energy costs and improving energy efficiency during the designing, building, or remodelling stages of construction. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, green buildings, lighting, air quality, or energy procurement. Reporting to the Senior Energy Engineer, you will play a key role in driving sustainable practices within our projects.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum degree in Building Services/Sustainability/Mechanical Engineering
Working towards Chartered status or professional membership of Engineer's Ireland is desirable.
Minimum of 1-2 years full-time experience as a Sustainability Engineer, preferably in a consultancy environment
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects in a client-facing role.
Proficient in a wide range of project types, such as commercial office, healthcare, education, etc. in the UK and/or Ireland.
In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including TGD Part L, CIBSE TM52, TM59, BRE209, etc.
Holds a valid driving license and is willing to conduct site visits when required.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Strong experience in producing Part L compliance strategies for various project types.
Proficient in producing DEAP and NEAP calculations.
Experience in dynamic thermal simulations using software such as IES VE.
Capable of producing thermal loads, overheating and thermal comfort studies
Competent in producing daylight, sunlight, overshadowing studies, and internal daylight assessments.
Familiarity with the HPI certification process.
Knowledge of embodied carbon and life cycle assessments
Professional certification in a green buildings rating system (HPI, BREEAM, LEED AP, etc.) is a bonus.
Organized and adaptable with a flexible approach to work
Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Skilled in providing clear, technically sound reports and effective verbal communication.
Able to work autonomously, stay focused, with attention to detail.
Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
