South Post Oak Recycling Center (SPORC) is a Houston based metals and electronics recycling business. SPORC is also a family owned and operated business since 1994. We recycle and buy metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, alloys, stainless steel, and electronics which are all sorted and processed on site. We are seeking a Yard Manager that will oversee yard team, optimize yard operations, enhance safety program, and improving overall efficiency and productivity. The ideal applicant will have prior recycling / scrap experience in yard operations and have the ability to relate and manage the yard team.
Job Responsibilities:
The Yard Manager will be responsible for:
- Efficiently managing incoming and outgoing materials, optimizing layout and space utilization within the yard.
- Manage customer base, customer flow and set expectations for material buying.
- Lead, Manage, Develop & Accountability of the yard team.
- Oversee inventory levels, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring proper storage of recyclable materials.
- Coordinate regular maintenance and repair schedules for yard machinery and equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and conducting regular safety audits.
What we are looking for: Ideal candidate will streamline processes, improving the flow of materials in and out of the yard, reducing bottlenecks, and enhancing overall efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within the recycling or waste management industry, preferably in metal recycling.
- Strong knowledge of metal recycling processes, equipment, and regulations.
- Proven experience in people management and operational oversight.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to weather elements and noise.
