DISPATCHER

Reports to: Director of Fleet Operations

Terms:  Regular full-time, hourly

Schedule: 8 am to 4 pm M-F, some evenings and weekends occasionally 

Compensation:   $20-23/hour, depending on experience

Primary Purpose:

The Dispatcher at Eureka Recycling plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication and coordination between drivers and the collections team. This position is responsible for managing daily dispatch operations, leveraging routing technologies to optimize efficiency and set clear expectations for the team. The Dispatcher ensures that proper procedures are followed, verifying when drivers are sent back to addresses before their scheduled collection day and overseeing the completion of routes.

Additionally, the Dispatcher serves as a key point of contact for identifying issues that may require further training or clarification, offering valuable insights due to their unique position for the fleet team. This role is essential in maintaining operational efficiency, quality control, and customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities of the Dispatcher

· Schedule and dispatch recycling pickup and delivery routes

· Monitor driver locations and progress throughout the day

· Communicate with customers regarding service updates or issues

· Maintain accurate logs and records of routes, schedules, and service requests

· Coordinate with the operations team to adjust routes based on changes or delays

· Handle incoming calls and messages in a professional, courteous manner

· Ensure compliance with company safety and service protocols


Minimum Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Punctual and dependable, willing to work flexible hours

· Legible handwriting

· Team-Oriented: Ability to work collaboratively with both the customer service and collections teams to ensure smooth operations.

· Ability to enter information into a database with precision

· Effective written and verbal communication skills in English

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing and performing multiple tasks with attention to detail

Requirements

  

Preferred Qualifications 

· Experience in Dispatch or Similar Role: At least 1-2 years of experience in a dispatch, customer service, or operations role, preferably within the recycling, transportation, or logistics industry. 

· Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with drivers, customers, and internal teams, both verbally and in writing.

· Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using dispatch software, route optimization tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with route planning or fleet management software is a plus.

· Availability: Flexibility to work in varying shifts, including early mornings or late hours as required by the operational needs.


Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Occasional Saturday work will be required.

Salary Description
$20.00 to $23.00 / hour
