Mission

We are looking for a Latam Interconnection Specialist to join our Latam Business Unit based in Chile. The mission of this role is to lead the technical and engineering activities required to interconnect the projects within the Latam BU portfolio at Zelestra, ensuring the proper integration of generation plants into the electrical grid. The role will ensure that the interconnection process complies with regulatory, technical, and commercial requirements set by government authorities, system operators, and Zelestra’s internal guidelines. Additionally, the role will collaborate with regional teams and stakeholders during development and construction phases to ensure that project interconnections align with business needs and contribute to value creation through the efficiency and optimization of the COD of the BU’s projects under construction.

Responsibilities

  • Design strategies to comply with electrical studies, connection timelines, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities and grid operators to obtain the necessary permits and approvals for plant interconnection.
  • Advise and support local construction teams in preparing the essential documentation required for on-time interconnection (COD).
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders in the technical planning and due diligence evaluations of construction-phase projects within the BU portfolio.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to develop interconnection projects with timely execution and efficient design.
  • Develop and monitor actions that enable optimal performance and evaluation of interconnections for the BU LATAM projects under construction.
  • Support the drafting of technical bidding documents in collaboration with legal and commercial teams.
  • Lead the handover process from Engineering to Construction and from Construction to Operation, ensuring technical quality and effective coordination.
  • Lead interconnection projects that improve productivity within the Business Unit.
  • Lead knowledge management through continuous improvement processes, lessons learned, knowledge sharing, innovation, and documentation management within the Business Unit’s interconnection process.
  • Ensure that compliance testing (protections, system response capacity, grid compatibility) is successful.
  • Manage connection agreements and contracts with the entities responsible for energy transmission and distribution.
  • Implement measures to reduce risks and costs associated with the interconnection process, ensuring operational efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Verify that the plant operates in accordance with current regulations and manage any required adjustments or updates in coordination with other areas.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial, Electrical, Electronic, or Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in project and interconnection management.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the solar or wind energy industry.
  • Valid Class B driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites.
