Now Hiring: Groundsman / Maintenance Technician Join a dependable and skilled team supporting multiple beautiful properties in Skaneateles, NY.
Location: Skaneateles, NY Employment Type: Part-time or Full-time Pay: $25-$30/hour (based on experience) with regular raise opportunities Benefits: 401(k), Medical, Dental, Vision (after 90 days), 10 PTO days annually
About the Role
We are seeking a Groundsman / Maintenance Technician to provide high-quality upkeep and support for a private residence and four family-owned restaurants in Skaneateles. This role includes a wide range of responsibilities-from landscaping and snow removal to light electrical, HVAC, and plumbing work.
You will report to the Household Manager and collaborate with both residential and restaurant teams. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who is self-motivated, solution-oriented, and looking for a long-term opportunity with growth potential into a Lead Groundsman role.
What You'll Do
Complete daily and weekly property maintenance tasks
Perform groundskeeping: debris removal, snow shoveling, pest control, power washing
Maintain outdoor systems: irrigation, lighting, pool, hot tub, and fountain upkeep
Conduct basic home and restaurant maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry)
Monitor and maintain appliances and equipment
Conduct routine safety checks: fire alarms, extinguishers, etc.
Supervise contractors and assist with property upgrades and renovations
Support special event setup and takedown
Handle vehicle care and transport (detailing, maintenance, jet skis, boats)
Track and manage inventory of tools and maintenance supplies
Assist with managing additional maintenance staff as the team grows
Schedule Overview
Floating schedule with rotating days off
Summer: Busy season with increased workload
Winter: Slower season with more flexible scheduling
What We're Looking For
High school diploma required; technical/trade school preferred
2-3+ years of experience in a maintenance or technician role
Working knowledge of groundskeeping, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
Ability to safely operate tools, landscaping equipment, and power machinery
Strong troubleshooting and prioritization skills
Physically fit: able to lift, walk, bend, and climb ladders
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
Professional demeanor and ability to interact respectfully with staff, executives, and guests
