Job Description

As the Sustainability Lead, you will spearhead the implementation of TOMRA Food's sustainability strategy, collaborating with teams across the organisation and working closely with TOMRA Group’s sustainability team to embed best practices. This role will be instrumental in driving our climate ambitions, ensuring emissions reduction in line with science-based targets to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emission Reduction Strategy: Support and guide the teams to minimise emissions across operations, business models, and products, ensuring alignment with external commitments such as the the Science Based Targets initiative.
  • Sustainability Governance: Coordinate sustainability reporting, corporate sustainability governance and supply chain sustainability.
  • Perform Communication: Report on TOMRA Food's sustainability impact and performance in a clear and engaging manner. fostering a culture of engagement and accountability for the sustainability agenda across the organisation.

Collaboration & Key Focus:

As Sustainability Lead, you will work closely with the TOMRA Food Strategy team and the TOMRA Group Sustainability team to drive sustainability initiatives in the following areas:

Decarbonisation:

  • Lead and coordinate TOMRA Food's efforts in implementing TOMRA's decarbonisation roadmap.
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on decarbonisation initiatives, supporting project implementation teams.
  • Oversee the collection and reporting of TOMRA Food's scope 1-3 emissions data, continuously improving GHG data quality and accuracy.
  • Benchmark TOMRA Food's sustainability performance against industry best practices, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Lead efforts to quantify and report on avoided emissions enabled by TOMRA Food products in use. 
  • Stay informed about evolving climate-related regulations and standards, ensuring TOMRA Food remains compliant and prepared.

Sustainability Reporting:

  • Support ESG data management, reporting and analysis in collaboration with Group Controlling and Sustainability teams.
  • Assist the TOMRA Group Sustainability team in developing and implementing sustainability procedures and frameworks that align with regulatory requirements and business strategy.
  • Work with divisional supply chain and procurement teams to embed sustainability principles into supply chain management.
  • Help define key sustainability metrics, ensuring effective data collection, analysis, and reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.

Communication & Engagement:

  • Communicate TOMRA's sustainability strategy and progress at the TOMRA Food level, engaging both internal and external audiences.
  • Act as a key point of contact and subject matter expert for sustainability topics across the organisation. 
  • Mentor and support employees and sustainability champions, building internal expertise and fostering a culture of sustainability. 

Qualifications

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, climate and energy management, or environmental engineering
  • Ideally 5+ years working in a sustainability related field, with a focus on GHG management and climate strategy.
  • Proficiency in GHG accounting methods, with practical experience in applying the GHG Protocol; commercial mindset and business understanding.
  • Strong project management skills with a structured and organised approach.
  • Knowledge of corporate sustainability management theory, tools, and frameworks; 
  • Good understanding of the regulatory landscape for sustainability management 
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to adapt to organisational change.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate sustainability frameworks and the regulatory landscape.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including experience using Excel for data analysis and modelling.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
