Job Summary 

 

As a Project Diligence Intern at Standard Solar Inc, you will play a role in supporting our project evaluation and development efforts. You will participate in conducting comprehensive research and analysis on potential solar energy projects, gathering and organizing data, and assisting in the preparation of detailed reports and presentations. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector, working closely with experienced professionals to drive sustainable energy solutions. This position is based in our Rockville MD office, aligned with the current office schedule. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Integrated Project Team members in completing investment underwriting deliverables for the Investment Committee. 

  • Conduct project-level reporting and due diligence to ensure thorough evaluation of solar projects. 

  • Aid the Senior Transaction Manager in managing projects throughout the acquisition process. 

  • Provide research support for solar development projects, including data collection, submission and analysis. 

  • Communicate with members of other SSI offices to obtain necessary items from the due diligence checklist. 

  • Complete various solar development tasks as assigned. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the due diligence of new product introductions. 

  • Perform ad-hoc quantitative analyses to support ongoing origination and development activities for projects. 

  • Assist in preparing detailed memos and presentations for senior management. 

  • Gather and organize data from various sources to support project evaluations. 

  • Assist in preparing detailed reports and presentations on project findings and recommendations. 

  • Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of diligence tasks. 

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all research and analysis activities. 

  • Provide general support to the integrated project team as needed. 

  • Research, understand, and report on policies and incentives which impact the projects 

  • Interconnection policies, requirements, and rules 

  • Federal ITC, adders and requirements 

  • Local and state level grants, programs and incentives 

  • Support verification of project requirements pre and post construction. 

  • Permit requirements 

  • Review project entity names 

  • Documenting and reviewing project AHJ conditions 

  • Tracking project incentives 

  • Assist with key project date tracking 

  • Assist with submittal tracking 

  • Support data upload on Salesforce and Procore. 

  • Support research and analysis on utility solar interconnection processes and requirements. 

  • Support collection and upload of documents for IE review 

  • IPT Department Folder Organization and Maintenance 

 

 

Qualifications 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Engineering, Construction Management, Science, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 

  • Strong analytical and research skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Conducts work in both a field-type environment and in a professional office setting. 
Physical working conditions may involve the following: 

  • Lifting up to 25 pounds. 

  • Extended periods of sitting, walking, standing, reaching, and/or bending. 

  • Extended periods of reading fine print on a computer or in paper-based format. 

NON-PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Routine aspects of this position may require the following non-physical demands:

POTENTIAL HAZARDS: 

Routine aspects of this position may place the incumbent in situations where they may be susceptible to potential hazards from the following: 

  • Trips, slips and/or falls while on customer property. 

  • Chemical abrasives are used in office and kitchen cleaning. 

  • Lifting items up to 50 pounds in weight. 

  • Other hazardous conditions on customer premises, not otherwise defined here.
