Our client in the solar/renewable energy space is urgently looking to employ a Product Portfolio Manager at their organization
Location: Northriding, Randburg

Job Description:

Manage a portfolio of products within a defined strategic market. Analyzing the success of the product portfolio and providing insight into new product introduction portfolio fit and the potential impact on the portfolio. Effectively lead all aspects of the product portfolio – working within the wider team to increase sales, profitability, market share, and brand recognition.

Requirements Must be available immediately 
  • Must have a 3 year technical qualification
  • Must have at least 3 years of Solar PV experience with a sales background
  • Must have experience within the solar/renewable energy sector (non-negotiable)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects within a technical setting.
  • Good knowledge of local regulations and requirements.
  • Must have strong knowledge of off-grid, grid-tied, commercial/residential and battery backup systems

  • Follow Company policies at all times
Stakeholder Relations
  • Build and maintain trust relationships with the Management Team, Colleagues and Customers to ensure specific targets are met.
  • Build close co-operation with international teams to define and find consensus on product and development strategies.
  • Work as part of the Technical Product Team to ensure a smooth technical operation.
  • Work collaboratively and engage with key Stakeholders to achieve specific targets.
  • Strive to maintain an ethical team environment.

Product Portfolio Manager Tasks
  • Manage the new product process by ensuring the right product is selected.
  • Regularly monitor market conditions and competitor activity and advise on product positioning, pricing, short- and long-term marketing and business plans, forecasting, future market demand, sales projections, pricing and profit margins, and report market information to the business.
  • Ability to be the Voice of Customer (VoC) - quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Develop and manage the business case for new product introduction considering the impact on the whole product portfolio.
  • Proposition Development - e.g. wrap-around solutions/systems/cross-sells within the portfolio.
  • Co-ordinate sales and marketing campaigns, ensuring product pricing is competitive.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis.
  • Develop product pricing strategies and ensure alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Determine margins for all brands and monitor portfolio overall margin.
  • Work closely with the technical product managers to identify portfolio shortages/overstock for our customers to have a complete solution (meters, cables, etc).
  • Assess initial demand through market research and consultation with all relevant internal and external sources to develop an initial procurement plan.
  • Product Performance Management to ensure the product lifecycle/stages are clearly communicated to the business.
