Senior Civil Designer
We are seeking a Senior Civil Designer to join our team. This role involves various stages of project planning, proposal preparation, site evaluations, analytical design, reporting, and the development of construction documentation and environmental plans. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of projects across diverse industries and client portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
Design civil engineering projects, including site development, land development, roadways, stormwater drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utilities, erosion control, traffic control, airports, and facility design.
Create detailed production drawings, including design layouts and calculations for complex, non-routine assignments.
Perform civil design tasks using established methods and standard techniques, such as drawing sequencing, system component sizing, and refining preliminary sketches.
Make revisions to designs, sketches, and mark-ups for ongoing projects.
Analyze reports, maps, drawings, test results, and geological data to support project planning and design.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and project specifications.
Conduct quality assurance reviews of design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule constraints.
Calculate volumes for excavation, dredging, and site grading.
Integrate project schedules, budgets, and criteria into civil design and layouts.
Maintain organized records of project drawings, files, and documentation.
Perform additional duties as assigned while adhering to company policies and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience OR Associate degree with 8+ years of relevant experience OR 9+ years of progressive detailing and design experience in civil engineering projects.
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel for design deliverables.
Strong knowledge of civil design principles, calculations, and industry standards.
Familiarity with related engineering disciplines and the ability to use discipline-specific design software.
Collaboration & Problem-Solving:
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team with project managers, engineers, and designers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
