Education and Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) degree required.
- Experience working with children.
- Strong verbal and written English communications skills required. Bilingual (Spanish or Hmong) communication skills a plus.
- An ability to work directly with animals to present animal-based programs in a classroom setting.

- This position requires the employee to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift. The employee may be required to bend, stoop, or crouch to assist students.
- The employee is regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Visual acuity to read printed instructions and safety information, and to direct student activity at close range and at a distance.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication (in person and via telephone), at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The position functions both indoors and outdoors, with potential exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather.
- The employee
may work in close proximity to Zoo animals.
- Ability to work seasonally scheduled program hours including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
