Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. Responsibilities
What you’ll be able to do:
- Create and own battery equivalent models of different fidelities
- Develop 1D battery pack electrical models
- Drive product direction and cell design based on model recommendations
- Integrate versions of the cell model with the vehicle model
- Define requirements for thermal and pack components based on cell aging & warranty
- Integrate cell and pack variability and BMS to support design and calibration of software
- Work with experimental teams to get new types of data needed to improve analysis
- Correlate and improve models with field vehicles
Qualifications
The minimum requirements we seek:
- 5+ years of experience of developing cell models and an understanding of how cell characteristics relate to system performance
- Knowledge of modeling techniques used to simulate lithium-ion cells, battery packs, and thermal systems
- First principal knowledge of engineering, chemistry, & physics fundamentals
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- High proficiency in any of Python/MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence or a similar system for tracking inputs/results
- Masters in chemical, EE or related fields of engineering
- Experience with different cell chemistries and form factors
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with Battery or Hybrid Electric Vehicles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
- A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
- PhD in chemical engineering
