Job Responsibilities:
Become familiar with the client's engineering standards and procedures
Perform research to apply the appropriate engineering principles and standards to meet requirements
Prepare specifications and procure materials and equipment for a timely and efficient execution of projects
Provide technical support to all refinery departments in order to support safe, efficient, and cost effective installations
Monitor contract personnel for engineering, design, and installation of capital, expense, and maintenance projects
Perform cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects
Manage multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule
Follow safety rules and guidelines as established by the refinery
Assist with developing activity assignments, planning, and work scheduling
Work with other disciple engineers as appropriate for new design strategies
Assist in designing and implementing cost effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability as needed
Assess new instrumentation and control technologies as well as determine the right opportunities for their application as needed
Troubleshoot instrumentation and electrical problems and issues, develop alternatives, and propose and implement solutions for long term reliability
Provide engineering analysis and evaluation of instrumentation and electrical projects
Assist in the design and execution of instrumentation and electrical projects
Maintain a familiarity with electrical codes and standards
Verify application of suitable industry codes and standards in selection, construction, and usage of instrumentation and electrical equipment and system
Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of specifications, designs, codes, and other requirements as needed
Work with other professionals and SMEs to obtain input into various project disciplines (electrical, fixed equipment, civil, controls, rotating equipment, etc.)
Incorporate reliability best practices into engineering design
Qualifications & Skills for Success:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering and project management with at least 3 years exposure in a refinery/petrochemical-operating environment is required
Ability to communicate and interact with management, other disciplines, and contractor field and office personnel
Proficient project coordination and management skill is a must
Extremely experienced with engineering standards such as API, NFPA, ASME, BS/EN
Highly proficient in reading E&I drawings, blueprints, isometrics, P&IDs, etc.
Ability to understand field changes and red-line drawings
Highly proficient with MOC process and PSSR (pre-startup safety reviews) process
