Job Summary:
Yinson Renewables is seeking an experienced Head of Technical with a strong background in conducting technical assessments of renewable energy projects, in particular onshore wind, solar and hybrid projects. The ideal candidate will have experience leading engineering teams, managing third-party consultants and overseeing a range of technical reviews to drive project success.
This global role supports projects throughout the development, procurement, construction, and operational phases, with a strong focus on the technical aspects of our renewable energy portfolios.
Location: London, UK or Oslo, Norway
Responsibilities
- Work with internal stakeholders across the development, construction and operations teams to support technical assessments and decisions.
- Be responsible for and lead a small team focusing on the various technical aspects related to the projects (yield reports, layout and optimization, identification of constraints, logistics, electrical and civil designs, etc).
- Oversee wind campaigns, ensuring the correct type and level of data is obtained to provide bankable reports.
- Liaise with Project Managers to determine the scope and timescale of the work required.
- Monitor and report on progress of technical work.
- Contract & manage external consultants providing technical services.
- Manage and carry out technical due diligence on projects within the YR portfolio and potential acquisitions.
- Liaise with OEMs and equipment suppliers to understand technical capabilities and constraints
- Oversee factory inspection works and setting the standards for quality control during the construction phase.
- Oversee yield, performance ratios and availability assessments, and ensure the quality of the reporting, working with internal and external resources.
- Work with the Procurement team, to lead the technical review and evaluation of OEMs and turbine suppliers and oversee negotiations on the technical aspects of contracts, whilst nurturing relationships with suppliers to enable a full technical understanding of products.
- Create, improve and implement processes, procedures and tools for technical assessments.
- Research new products and services to meet Company's goals
- Other tasks as may be relevant to your position or team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively candidate must show relevant training path that has been completed for this type of role.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working in the Renewables industry, within similar roles.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and their applications.
- Track record of working on wind and solar projects.
- Minimum of 6 years working with technical assessments of wind projects (yield and design).
- Experience managing own team/direct reports.
- Excellent communication skills including an analytical mindset.
- International experience is preferable.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Spanish would be beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of areas of responsibility.
- Travel will be required for this role.
