DESCRIPTION OF POSITION’S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Conducts field and office work commensuratewith the water, air, and soil sampling requirements for the mining environmentWork with Engineers, PermitCoordinators, and Scientific Specialists to conduct required water sampling and inspections as requiredfor the mine permits and regulations.  Utilizes knowledge of variousengineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete accuratesampling and monitoring measurements. Develops and maintains process documentation including standards, guidelines and procedures that serve to continually improve database management andeffectiveness.Identifiesany environmental concerns observedwhile in the field, alerting supervisors or managementas necessaryOther duties as assigned.Other field work toincludegrade control and topographic surveying, using Cad designs to create stakeout and layout files for GPS equipment, use of drones for aerial photogrammetry and photos/video collection.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Associates of Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Computer Aided Design and Drafting. Proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Map, Carlson, Excel and Access or similar softwareSurveying or sampling background highly desirableFamiliarity with drone surveying and photogrammetry highlydesirablePossession of a current Part 107 drone license or ability to obtain and maintaina Part 107 Drone license requiredwithin 6 months of hire. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programsAny equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledgeand abilities. 

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION’S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Westmoreland Rosebud Mining LLC, a surface coal mine in Colstrip, MT is seeking a Permit Coordinator.  The Permit Coordinator works under the general direction of the Environmental Manager. 

Responsibilities will include preparing & submitting permit documents required for mining operations.  This includes mining permits, renewals, amendments and minor revisions.  Coordinating responses for DEQ comments on permit documents, preparing and submitting annual mining reports to the various regulatory authorities.   Coordinating bond calculations for all mining areas, reviewing and submitting bond release applications.  Act as primary contact with Montana DEQ.  Keeping state and federal exploration permits and bond current and monitoring changes in regulations and legislation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Engineering or Science, general knowledge of Montana and Federal regulations, computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD are required.  Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and regulatory agencies, both verbally and written.

 

  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards of safety.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company standards to ensure insurability.
  • Pre-employment screenings, including drug screening and background checks, will be conducted on all candidates receiving a conditional offer.

 

SALARY/GRADE/BENEFITS: 

The established grade for this position is O or P, with salary depending upon qualifications and experience.
