Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environmental Officer
Location: Coleraine, Northern Ireland
Reporting To: Engineering & EHS Manager

 

About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Officer to join a growing team in the Engineering & EHS department. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of health, safety, and environmental procedures across the site, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements, and driving a culture of safety throughout the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the introduction and ongoing management of health, safety, and environmental procedures on-site.
  • Act as an advisor on health, safety, and environmental matters to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify gaps in procedures and ensure the company meets all EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Create a safe working environment with a commitment to accident and mishap prevention.
  • Assist the Engineering & EHS Manager in driving the EHS agenda and ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Participate in required training and maintain up-to-date personal training records.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Coordinate energy audits and recommend energy-saving initiatives.
  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the role and contribute to the overall business objectives.

 

EHS Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the site adheres to company EHS policies and meets GxP and EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate EHS meetings and manage KPIs to drive performance improvement.
  • Conduct regular EHS inspections and manage the creation and periodic review of risk assessments.
  • Oversee the management of COSHH on-site.
  • Report on carbon emissions and manage the associated reporting requirements.
  • Investigate near misses and encourage safety suggestions from staff.
  • Manage contractors ensuring adherence to EHS guidelines, including reviewing risk assessments and method statements.

 

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • 3rd Level qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Previous industrial experience.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in office applications.

 

Desirable:

  • 2+ years of experience in a Health, Safety, and Environmental role.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical, food, or allied industries.
