The Site Safety & Health Specialist is responsible for leading and implementing project-specific safety policies and procedures while providing professional safety leadership to the project management team in a heavy construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and oversee safety programs on field construction projects to ensure operations are executed safely and in compliance with regulations.
Manage compliance with applicable local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
Implement and maintain safety programs to achieve and sustain the company's goal of zero safety incidents.
Conduct regular health and safety performance reviews, assessments, and documentation to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
Identify and resolve safety hazards that could result in immediate danger to life and health, including managing work stoppages when necessary.
Collaborate with project management teams and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety and accountability.
Lead project safety walk-through assessments, document findings, and ensure timely corrective actions.
Develop and deliver safety training programs on critical topics relevant to the work being conducted.
Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and property damage, providing root cause analyses and corrective action recommendations.
Maintain accurate safety documentation, including training records, incident reports, and inspection logs.
Review and recommend solutions for safety challenges, ensuring effective communication with corporate safety leadership.
Drive to various project sites as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Solar experience required.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 7 years of experience in construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management; OR
Associate Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 9 years of experience; OR
High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience.
Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry Regulations, as well as ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1, and NEC Standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work various schedules at the project site.
Must meet company standards for driving privileges per the Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Valid driver's license required.
OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training required.
