Details:

The Site Safety & Health Specialist is responsible for leading and implementing project-specific safety policies and procedures while providing professional safety leadership to the project management team in a heavy construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and oversee safety programs on field construction projects to ensure operations are executed safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Manage compliance with applicable local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain safety programs to achieve and sustain the company's goal of zero safety incidents.
  • Conduct regular health and safety performance reviews, assessments, and documentation to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and resolve safety hazards that could result in immediate danger to life and health, including managing work stoppages when necessary.
  • Collaborate with project management teams and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Lead project safety walk-through assessments, document findings, and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs on critical topics relevant to the work being conducted.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and property damage, providing root cause analyses and corrective action recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including training records, incident reports, and inspection logs.
  • Review and recommend solutions for safety challenges, ensuring effective communication with corporate safety leadership.
  • Drive to various project sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Solar experience required.
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 7 years of experience in construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management; OR
    • Associate Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 9 years of experience; OR
    • High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry Regulations, as well as ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1, and NEC Standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work various schedules at the project site.
  • Must meet company standards for driving privileges per the Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training required.
