Job Description – Intern, Power & Renewables

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our China Management Consulting Team based in Beijing. The team provides a broad range of services including market research, commercial and market due diligence, and strategy development. As an intern, you will be fully integrated into our team of senior energy consultants, engaging in challenging research and analysis, and contributing to the delivery of insights and recommendations to executive-level decision-makers. You will work on exciting and innovative low-carbon technology projects across China and potentially other markets.

The ideal candidate should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme. They should be available to attend the internship at least three days per week on-site. The candidate should be available for a minimum period of three months and have the relevant permit to intern in Beijing, China already.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present data related to the electricity sector for various projects, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Assist in translating reports between English and Chinese.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • We perform extensive complex analysis, much of which is numerical. We seek individuals with strong quantitative analysis skills, including proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Excellent report-writing skills are essential, with the ability to clearly and logically explain complex information in English, using MS PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese is essential as these are our working languages.
  • Teamwork is crucial in our work, requiring strong communication skills. you should have the ability to give direct, clear feedback and receive the same.
  • You will be working in a commercial environment with budgets and deadlines, so you need to be proactive, self-sufficient, and have a business-oriented mindset.
  • An understanding of China’s energy market, including market dynamics, policy frameworks, and emerging trends, is advantageous.
  • Experience in energy consulting, especially in renewable energy, decarbonization, and energy transition-related topics, is preferred.
  • Our team members typically have diverse academic backgrounds in Economics, Social Sciences, Finance, or Engineering from leading universities, but we also welcome candidates from other relevant fields.
