Solar Jr. PV Design Engineer – Commercial and Industrial

 

Salary:  $25.00 - $30.00/Hour

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will develop designs for Commercial Solar Photovoltaic energy systems including energy production estimates, physical layout, permit and construction plan sets, DAS integration, performance testing and quality assurance.

You will be part of our highly motivated Commercial project development team.

 

  • Gaining deep knowledge of PV system components such as modules, racking, inverters, batteries, and Balance of Systems (BOS).
  • Have a passion for multi-disciplinary design, integrating design consideration including electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering disciplines.
  • Visit potential solar host sites to collect data for the purposes of designing generating systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
  • Will operate a flying drone to measure survey project sites. We will train you.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and/or directed.

Required Qualifications, Traits, and Skills:

Efficient time management – ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.

  • Strong knowledge of construction codes and standards
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to carry and properly set a 28’ extension ladder.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and walk on flat rooftops.
  • Strong attention-to-detail and excellent organization skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Previous experience working in one of the construction trades, preferably Electrical.
  • The ability to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer.
  • The ability to spend hours walking and climbing ladders.

 

Preferred (but not required) Qualifications.

  • NABCEP certification
  • AURORA solar design software
  • HELIOSCOPE
  • SALESFORCE
  • ACAD-LT
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field, preferably architecture, civil, electrical, or mechanical     engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years’ experience and proficiency in PV design and drafting utilizing AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D and experience with cloud-based design software such as Helioscope and Aurora Solar
  • Experience with design of C & I PV systems preferred.
