Geothermal Construction Administration Specialist

Job Summary: Responsible for providing construction administration services primarily during the construction phase of projects designed by MEP Design Teams. This position will oversee and manage the entire process surrounding the construction phase of MEP projects.  This person will provide shop drawing reviews and will manage the shop drawing review process; represent Salas O’Brien and document construction meetings when appropriate, provide onsite observations of installations for plan/spec compliance, interpret design and construction documents; assists in compiling and preparing construction phase documentation; establishes and maintains contract records; and ensures compliance with contractual terms and conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Interprets contract provisions to help resolve claims and questions submitted by contractors.
  • Works with the design teams to coordinate the construction phase processes including but not limited to: RFI’s, Construction Bulletins, Change Orders, etc.
  • Is knowledgeable enough regarding HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Systems to be able to perform preliminary and final punch list site observations and document those observations.
  • Is knowledgeable regarding Geothermal Heat Exchanger installations and be able to perform site observations, logging, and reporting on QA/QC processes performed by the installing contractors.
  • Receives requests; obtains estimates; updates records, initiates paperwork and follows up on request for approval of work not previously covered in the contract; processes and obtains approval of contract changes.
  • Monitors compliance of contract requirements ensuring all conditions are satisfied.
  • Initiates and/or conducts meetings with contractors concerning contractual problems as requested by the assigned Project Manager.
  • Establishes and updates records of all correspondence related to contract activity.
  • Provides preliminary review for shop drawings.
  • Assists with the design of Geothermal projects.
  • May provide Quality Assurance reviews for HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical plans.
  • All other duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and 5 years of experience in the Architecture/Engineering industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills of MS-Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) are required and knowledge of Newforma, InDesign, AIA Software and MS-Project a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential
  • Possess a work ethic that includes neatness, punctuality and accuracy
  • Remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in work environment
  • Read and clearly speak English, follow written and verbal instructions, write legibly for logs and documentation, distinguish color
  • Work both independently and as a team member, multi-task effectively, and maintain a clean and organized workplace
  • Work well with onsite client construction managers, installation crews, and other construction teams with coordination and communication.

Travel: Travel up to 90%

The base salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $90,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
