Weâre looking for a passionate marketing leader in Valencia to help propel our brand even further. In this role, youâll lead the way on all things digitalâmanaging our website, blog, and social media channels to make sure our story reaches far and wide. Youâll also design, develop, measure, and control advertising campaigns, all while driving direct customer acquisition.
Weâre looking for someone to lead marketing for the Octopus Energy domestic retail business in Spain, but there are probably some things you should knowâŠ
We donât use agencies - we really donât, not for creative, production, or even media. Weâve a fabulous team of in-house designers, UX, writers, and front-enders. We do our own media buying. You could say, in fact, that weâre half agency, but weâre your most favourite ever client, the one you secretly yearned to work at.
Weâre pretty obsessive. We think about our customers a lot. A lot a lot. We answer emails from customers, we join in on social media (and I mean we, as leaders do), we think constantly about what makes great experiences, great stories and great reasons for people to join us.
Weâre looking for someone whoâs worked their way round the marketing mix and can trot out some good metrics, but actually, what you really really know, is humans. You can put together a brand pyramid, but it makes you cry inside a little bit, because actually you feel what a brand is, why people choose it (even where that might seem illogical), and youâre just a little bit fascinated about why people make the choices they do.
Youâve led a team, and we donât mean just managing FTEs - youâll happily work with no direct reports, because your enthusiasm means awesome people will follow you, and youâll get stuff done. Youâll have direct reports but you wonât measure your worth in how many, in fact the opposite. Youâre a grafter, but youâre a smart grafter, you put effort where you know it delivers the most value - writing out an agenda for a meeting kills a little bit of your soul.
Youâve a burning desire to turn your skills to something meaningful. You enjoy the pace of the commercial world, but youâd rather not flog FMCG anymore, youâd want to be delivering something more sustainable to the world.
And finally. We have to be honest, we find that people from traditional businesses often struggle here. We donât work to backlogs, we donât write business cases but we prioritise effectiveness and efficiency above all else. We expect accountability without process, and responsibility without functional shoulder pads. We get stuff done by knowing whatâs right, and sometimes thatâs hard.
This will be a senior role, reporting into the CEO of the country and looking after the brand and its growth in the Spanish market. The position is based in Valencia 100%.
What Youâll DoâŠ
- Manage and measure the ROI and KPIs of the department and campaigns being run
- Oversee social media accounts
- Work with the team on the website: design, tone/messaging and conversion strategy
- Establish an online communication strategy for blog content
- Work with the marketing team at our London HQ
- Training the marketing team
- Running the brand identity in Spain
What Youâll NeedâŠ
- In-depth knowledge of mass sales in the residential market
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to achieve maximum impact on relevant situations and audiences
- Knowledge of social media and its different uses as communication and customer service channels
- Leadership and teamwork skills
- Propose different, unconventional ideas that help to work in new innovative and creative perspectives
- High level of English
- You need to live in Valencia
