SUMMARY:

 

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, with additional coaching and direction provided by the supervisors working alongside you, this role provides outstanding personalized food and beverage experiences to all Aquarium visitors and internal guests.  Working in a fast-paced high volume quick service restaurant environment, the Food and Beverage Associate is responsible for processing guest orders, preparation and delivery of food and beverage items and maintaining overall cleanliness of the cafes and surrounding areas.  Our Food and Beverage Associates are representatives of the Vancouver Aquarium and act as a “tour guide” to all our guests and visitors.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Provide exceptional visitor and guest experiences:

  • Create a positive, friendly and welcoming environment for every visitor and guest
  • Assist with and answer general visitor questions of programs, events, orientation and any other Vancouver Aquarium related inquiries.  Act as a “Tour-Guide” within the Aquarium
  • Able to confidently discuss all our food and beverage offerings and assist with any dietary restrictions
  • Maintain a consistent positive demeanor in all circumstances
  • Ensure all visitor and guest feedback is promptly addressed
  • Adopt the motto “if it is not right, we will make it right”
  • Anticipate visitor and guest needs

 

Ensure high quality product experience is received by all visitor and guest:

  • Ensure all visitor and guest requests are fulfilled and accurate prior to delivery
  • Ensure all satellite stations are clean and fully stocked
  • Make certain the cafes and surrounding areas are clean and organized
  • Ensure proper rotation of all food and beverage items

 

Maintain highest levels of cleanliness and professional presentation of Aquarium public and behind the scenes area:

  • Assist in keeping all café areas cleaned and organized, includes but not limited to bussing tables, mopping spills, equipment cleaning and stocking self-serve areas
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all team members and visitors, all safety concerns are promptly communicated to supervisor and managers

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Serving It Right certification is required
  • Clear background check is required
  • Previous food services experience in QSR or café environment is preferred
  • Previous guest service experience is preferred
  • Must be a motivated self-starter
  • Possess a consistent positive demeanor
  • Take initiative by identifying tasks and completing them
  • Strong guest service and verbal communication skills
  • Strong decision-making skills with ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to safely lift, move and carry a variety of objects up to 30 lbs
  • Must be available weekends and holidays

HOURLY RATE AT $19 PER HOUR
