Summary:
The Food & Beverage Utility Team Member is responsible for assisting in the efficient operation of the Zoo restaurants by maintaining cleanliness standards by sanitizing, removing garbage, cleaning equipment and work areas, and sweeping and mopping of floors. The position also ensures that the Zoo restaurants are fully stocked with supplies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare/assemble food service materials including souvenir cups, food baskets, trays, etc.
- Wash dishes and assist with kitchen cleanup.
- Maintain adequate supplies, such as forks, napkins and condiments in Zoo restaurants.
- Set up workstations and dining area including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, steam tables, etc.
- Break down, clean, and sanitize workstation and dining areas.
- Serve food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating the customers' needs.
- Maintain excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests and co-workers.
- Adhere to Memphis Zoo safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Seasonal positions are defined as temporary work to meet an organization’s temporary needs during certain times of the year and can last up to 6 months. This position can be scheduled to work approximately up to 40 hours per week. Scheduling is at the discretion of the manager. This position is considered non-exempt under the federal and state wage and hour laws.
This position regularly requires flexible hours including weekdays, holidays, and weekends including early morning, daytime, and evening hours to provide coverage during Zoo hours of operation.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in food service venues and on Zoo grounds. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve exposure to warmer temperatures. Employees should be prepared to work in a busy, moderately loud, and dynamic setting.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires frequent standing/walking/bending/kneeling and may occasionally move or lift objects up to 30 pounds.
