JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Supervisory Wildlife Refuge Specialist, GS-0485-12, working in Vian, Oklahoma, for the R2-Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Supervisory Wildlife Refuge Specialist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Overseeing daily operations of Refuge biological programs, focusing on habitat development, conservation, and wildlife monitoring. Ensuring policy compliance and collaborating with federal, state, and local partners to advance habitat management and restoration efforts. Assisting in planning and directing the Refuge's public relations and recreational programs to enhance visitor engagement. Responding to information requests, lead educational tours, and participating in outreach to promote wildlife recreation and conservation awareness. Supervising Refuge staff by managing work priorities, leave, performance reviews, and grievances. Supporting senior management in creating operational plans, budgets, and wildlife management reports. Administering the management program for Refuge facilities and equipment program including planning and scheduling maintenance, coordinating construction and repairs, and ensuring infrastructure complies with safety and environmental standards. Assisting in developing and reviewing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and environmental assessments and collaborating with senior management to develop conservation and habitat management plans and ensuring compliance with natural resource laws and regulations.
