Environmental Scientist II

Site Civil Engineering is seeking a seasoned Scientist II to join our growing firm. Site Civil Engineering is a full-service civil/environmental engineering and ecological consulting firm. Our areas of expertise include land development, site remediation, ecological studies, regulatory permitting, and compliance assistance. As a part of Site Civil Engineering’s staff you will primarily navigate projects through the site remediation process per the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection technical requirements under the supervision of a Licensed Site Remediation Professional. Additional staff support needed includes permit application support for land development and mitigation projects, and restoration planning for enforcement cases.

Pay: $55,000 - $70,000 Annually – based on experience

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement field sampling plans for collection of soil, ground water, vapor samples for laboratory analysis.
Working knowledge of environmental health and safety protocols
Ability to use hand tools, troubleshooting capabilities, innovative approaches to problem solving
Comfortable working in variable weather conditions
Data tabulation, management and interpretation using Excel
Prepare technical reports in Word that meet applicable regulatory requirements
File management using Adobe Professional
Generate environmental related mapping using CAD
GIS capabilities a bonus
Field Work – Min 20% - Collecting Samples, conducting inspections, O&M management, performing manual labor

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering related field,
Minimum 5 years driving experience, clean driving record.
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in environmental consulting
Minimum 2-5 years of experience with NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection regulation and guidance for Site Remediation - required
Valid OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPPER training certificate - required
Valid OSHA 8-hour refresher HAZWOPPER training certificate - preferred
Minimum 1 year CAD experience - required
Experience working with GIS - preferred
Applicant must exhibit a strong work ethic, willingness to learn new skills, ability to work autonomously, and collaborate with staff
