Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY

Manage and maintain the Environmental and Hazardous Materials/Hazardous Communications (HazMat/HazCom) and Safety programs in accordance with Federal, State, Government, Agency, and local requirements. Perform visual inspections, produce reports, and provide training, covering all environmental, hazardous, and safety related aspects of the contract. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain an effective HazMat/HazCom Program and documentation in accordance with Federal, State, Air Force and other Agency guidelines by complying with requirements for procedures for the collection, analysis, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste.
Ensure SDS (Material and Safety Data Sheets) are posted in locations storing chemicals.
Complete, maintain, and provide LAFB installation’s Entomology Department with TDA (Texas Department of Agriculture) reports for all applications of herbicides.
Produce monthly and quarterly reports for chemical usage and storm water/waste water contaminants.
Conduct visual inspections to ensure stored waste is within acceptable limits and maintained correctly.
Respond to inquiries or concerns from regulatory agencies.
Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
Provide continuous and refresher safety training to ensure all workers are educated in safety procedures and PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment), in compliance with OSHA, contract, and Agency safety requirements.
Perform safety inspections on equipment, vehicles, and facilities, to ensure they are safely maintained and contain compliant fire extinguishers and first aid kits, etc.
Complete safety/loss prevention reports and accident/injury reports.
Conduct accident/incident investigations and follows up and post report.
Perform grounds maintenance tasks and operate related equipment as needed and when available.

REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed indoors as well as outdoors, often under extreme weather conditions.
Vision: Use vision to read and to operate grounds maintenance equipment.
Speaking/Hearing: Give and receive information through speaking and hearing.
Motor Coordination: Requires hands to operate equipment and tools.
Lift/carry: Maylift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
