Renewable Energy Financial Analyst

Genie Solar is seeking a Renewable Energy Financial Analyst to provide core financial support for a rapidly growing renewables business with a focus on Solar Energy.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to work with various teams across the organization (sales, project development, engineering) to conduct deal evaluation and financial analysis. You will work directly with key members of the Genie Solar team in support of new business development, sales proposals, M&A opportunities, and business forecasting. This position will have exposure to all areas of the business and will contribute directly to the achievement of the company's financial and strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of technical proficiency (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint), strong communication and presentation skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Building financial models to support business decisions and presentation of analytical findings in a clear and concise manner
Prepare and maintain annual and quarterly budgets and forecasts.

Collaborate with internal and external teams in support of proposals, presentations, and other evaluations of renewable business opportunities.
Conduct research into state and federal renewable energy incentive/rebate programs as well as rules, regulations, and trends to help Genie pursue new opportunities
Assist in the evaluation of potential M&A and new business initiatives.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related academic field

Experience

3+ years' of experience as a financial analyst

Experience preparing and presenting financial models
Renewables modeling experience is a strong plus.
Familiarity with solar industry terms and contracting structures is a plus
Familiarity with community/shared solar programs is a plus

Job Skills

Strong quantitative skills (including financial modeling skills)

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledgeable of Renewable Energy Credit (REC) market and Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) is a plus
Be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
Ability to articulate complex issues through concise, cohesive summaries and presentations.
Self–starter, able to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

This is a Hybrid position with 2-3 days per week at the office in Newark, NJ.

Potential for travel ~10%.

You must be eligible to work in the US independent of company sponsorship.
