We are currently seeking a full time Sustainable Design Specialist who reports to the Director of Sustainability. This person will work closely with project teams to advance project sustainability initiatives including , carbon emission reduction, resource conservation, health, resilience, research, certification programs, and performance based-design via Environmental Analysis among others. This person will help build upon the firm’s expertise in sustainability by acting as a resource in this field, as well as helping to implement specific sustainability-related measures.

Responsibilities include:

LEED analysis, documentation and project coordination.
Sustainability-related research, including materials, technologies, systems, and urban strategies.
Environmental analysis, including climate, solar, daylight, thermal, embodied carbon, etc., and interpretation of results.
Serving as a resource to Studio Sustainability Leaders and staff on sustainability-related questions.
Assisting with sustainable design guidelines, sustainable master plans, charrette administration, presentations, project sustainability narratives and diagrams.
Assist in leadership of FXCollaborative’s sustainability workgroup, Team Green.
Working with the Materials Resource Librarian to research healthy, sustainable and ethically sourced materials, and to disseminate information across the office.
Working with the Technical Director to improve sustainability requirements in project specifications.
Working with the Digital Practice Group and Environmental Analysis Specialists to integrate environmental analysis into workflows.
Organizing LEED training, analysis training, and general sustainability education.
Representing FXCollaborative in industry sustainability groups and at related professional events.

Position Requirements:

Well versed in the principles of sustainable design and environmental analysis.
Understanding of architectural documentation and processes such as specifications, building envelope details, construction documents, etc.
Sensitivity to architectural design goals.
LEED Accredited Professional with Specialty (BD+C or ID+C) with LEED project experience.
Graduate of Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
3-5 years of work experience related to sustainability and the built environment, with prior experience in LEED project management and building performance simulation.
Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCad, and Rhino.
Experience with environmental analysis software such as Ladybug, HoneyBee, Therm, Climate Consultant, Climate Studio, One Click LCA, etc. Excellent interpersonal, graphic, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize & multi-task on multiple projects.
Must be proactive, analytical, detail-oriented and a self-starter.
Must be hardworking and a team player.
Must be professional at all times.Familiarity with the New York City Energy Conservation Code, International Green Construction Code, ASHRAE 90.1 and similar codes and standards is preferred.
Accreditation in WELL, FitWell, Living Building Challenge, Enterprise Green Communities, Passive House and/or other sustainability frameworks is an asset.
Experience with Energy Modeling software such as PHPP, WUFI Passive and/or EQuest is an asset.
Experience with Revit is an asset.
Experience with post-occupancy evaluations preferred.
