SUMMARY

The Environmental Test Lab Manager will lead the team responsible for the environmental test and verification of component level assemblies across multiple programs and departments. In this role you will be have the opportunity to lead our rapidly growing environmental test lab as it scales alongside our launch vehicle and spacecraft missions.

RESPONSIBILTIES

Act as the liaison between design engineering, programs, mission assurance, and manufacturing for the environmental test department
Serve as the technical subject matter expert for training requirements and capability expansion throughout environmental test
Advocate for the team and cultivate an environment where they can be successful; provide mentorship and development opportunities for the team
Work with test engineers and technicians to standardize and mistake proof production testing processes
Analyze and review test data to ensure that hardware is operating as expected; Use data analysis tools to interpret test results
Develop and sustain a vision for growth and development of both the members of your team and the capabilities of the environmental test lab
Leverage cross-functional relationships to help identify improvement opportunities, align on priorities, and execute initiatives to reduce lead time, labor hours, etc. for both internal and external environmental test processes
Identify, implement, and qualify environmental test equipment and processes in support of high reliability production that enables our throughput targets
Troubleshoot and identify ultimate root cause of issues in environmental test processes, then implement permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence

QUALIFICATIONS

BS or MS in in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of related experience, including at least 1 year of direct people management experience
Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills
Familiarity with some of the following types of testing: vibration, thermal, thermal vacuum, applied shock, EMI/EMC, salt/fog/humidity
Experience/understanding of hardware/software interfaces and basic schematic interpretation
Ability to decompose product requirements into robust test plans, test procedures, and test reports
Ability to troubleshoot and think out of the box
Experience testing hardware to specific industry standards
Creative and collaborative problem-solving skills

Desired

5+ years of experience directly managing a team of engineers and technicians
Experience testing to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461E, SMC-S-016, or other rigorous environmental testing and screening standards
Direct experience with range safety agencies
Experience building and managing annual operating plans, including capex related business case proposals/ROI
