Role

As anâ¯Environmental Compliance Specialist, Wildlife you will join our Environmental Compliance team within the Regulatory department and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations along with company policies, primarily with respect to migratory birds, bald and golden eagles, and other protected species. The role requires application of knowledge to analyze, interpret, and identify compliant solutions related to protected species. You will work closely with external and internal partners and legal counsel, apply knowledge to independently and collectively address compliance matters, and effectively communicate compliance guidance to internal partners.

Responsibilities

Exercise judgment and discretion to provide immediate independent decisions regarding inquiries from internal and external partners seeking authorization to access or conduct work at Crown Castle telecommunications sites (including assessing proposed scope and timing of work) to ensure compliance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Act, Endangered Species Act, and comparable state and local rules and regulations.
Responsibilities include addressing access authorization requests, emergencies, and other inquiries after hours on a shared basis with teammates.
Research and monitor federal, state, and local existing and proposed rules and regulations applicable to migratory birds, bald and golden eagles, and other protected species independently
Collaborate with teammates, internal partners, and legal counsel, as appropriate, to develop processes and procedures.
Work closely with internal and external partners to effectively and timely communicate compliance guidance.
Develop relationships with and consult with federal, state, and local authorities regarding rules and regulations applicable to migratory birds, bald and golden eagles, and protected species.
Interpret and assist with implementation of permit conditions.
Review biological assessments, such as nesting bird survey reports.
Initiate and maintain relationships with internal partners and external consultants and customers by providing first-rate support and customer service.
As time permits, provide assistance with environmental matters including, but not limited to, issues related to environmental due diligence and compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations, such as Clean Water Act, CERCLA, and ASTM Standards for Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments.

Education/Certificationsâ¯

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, or related discipline or equivalent work experience.

Experience/Minimum Requirementsâ¯

5+ years business experience
3+ years of relevant experience
Experience working in a corporate or environmental consulting environment a plus
Experience with bird species identification and knowledge of nesting cycles and behavior a plus

Working Conditions: This is a remote role with the expectation of on-site collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter. Travel up to 20% may be required.

For New York City, Colorado, California and Washington residents the hiring range offered for this position is $80,560 - $115,805 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 15% of annual salary and annual restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
