OVERVIEW
The ECS Environmental Core Educator has strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices that support education for and about sustainability. This educator uses the UN SDGs as the blueprint for teaching the topics of sustainability, and recognizes that they must also lead with the skills, values, and mindsets necessary in nurturing a global citizen. The Environmental Core Educator works collaboratively with the Environmental Citizenship Department to focus on integration of the sciences, humanities, civic engagement, technology, arts, and design. Educators will develop a students’ sense of place through outdoor experiences and education.

As part of the founding educator cohort in this department, candidates must be interested in curriculum and program development and have a proclivity for experimentation and innovation. Innovation is explicitly encouraged and celebrated. Candidates must be willing to play an active role in reflection, design, and implementation, and be comfortable with ambiguity. We are looking to build a team with a variety of roles and experience in order to create a holistic and comprehensive environmental citizenship program.

Applicants do not need expertise in all areas, but need to have curiosity for learning and should be able to articulate their skillset and how it might intersect with others. A full job description will be provided to applicants selected for an interview.

Educational Background and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
PA certification required
Minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated experience in developing integrated curriculum, courses, or units of study
Familiarity with charter schools
Experience collaborating with local partners

Compensation and Benefits

Minimum starting salary of $43,716 up to a maximum starting salary of $50,056, dependent upon prior years’ teaching experience.

Clearances current within one year of hire date will be required.
