Elektrofi is a biologics formulation startup focusing on the subcutaneous delivery of proteins. We deliver ultra-high concentration doses of proteins using our proprietary microparticle technology. This technology will expand access to biologics by replacing the traditional hours-long intravenous infusion required for most proteins with a rapid subcutaneous injection that can be self-administered at home.

Position summary

Elektrofi is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our biotech company full-time as a Senior Manager of EH&S to support the development of the novel Elektrofi formulation platform. The individual will join a growing, multidisciplinary team of scientists/engineers and contribute to the readiness of a variety of Research and Manufacturing activities in a highly collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

Manage the development, implementation, and administration of EH&S programs. These may include Laboratory Safety, Biosafety, Chemical Hygiene, Vivarium Safety, Process Hazard Assessments, Contractor Safety, Fire Safety, Hazardous Waste, Incident Reporting, and Sustainability.
Ensure compliance with safety practices and government regulations as they pertain to FDA GLP/Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
Develop solutions to complex issues focused on Lab Operations and Engineering initiatives with cross-functional team leaders, following cGMP regulations and internal procedures in accordance with applicable regulatory standards.
Provide leadership and direction to the team for the purpose of improving EH&S performance while fostering a culture of mentoring and growth.
Conduct EH&S laboratory safety inspections and follow-up in partnership with the Lab Operations and Pilot Plant Managers.
Participate and support facilities safety, construction design projects, contractor safety program and safe work permitting.
Manage the completion and maintenance of regulatory reports and permitting as required by state and local governing bodies.
Review, address, propose and/or resolve health and safety concerns.
Ability to function as an emergency coordinator and respond to emergencies during off-hours.
Manage accident/incident investigations and coordinate corrective/preventative action measures to closure.
Develop ergonomics standards and institute best practices for staff working in the office and lab areas.
Once imbedded within the teams, complete risk assessments for processes that may pose a heightened level of risk.
Partner with the Lab Operations team to identify and present industry advances in an educational format to our scientists.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental or safety related science field, Minimum 8 years of experience in EH&S discipline related field/industry
Previous experience working in GLP regulated laboratory highly preferred
Must be willing to obtain/maintain applicable OSHA, EPA RCRA, and DOT certifications
Willingness to take on new responsibilities and learn new skills
Strong leadership / team building skills / effective interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
Well organized, detail oriented and capable of managing rapidly changing priorities in a rapid growth environment
Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Suite a must
