Environmental Analyst

The Environmental Analyst is responsible for environmental and regulatory compliance for EdgeConneX Data Centers across all US locations. The Analyst will administer existing policies as well as adhere to and update standards to support regulatory compliance and provide guidance for regional operations and construction teams. The individual will review monitor metrics and create risk analyses, following general EPA as well as local government regulatory agency regulations and mandates. The Analyst will work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, engineering, operations, and other key departments. The Analyst will work with regulations and policies related to, but not limited to: the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, EPCRA, RCRA, National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

The Environmental Analyst must have excellent communication skills, environmental regulatory knowledge, risk analysis skills, and experience working with teams for complex and technical projects. This position is based in Herndon, VA, has a hybrid schedule (home/office) after the first 3 months, and reports to the Environmental and Regulatory Engineer.

Primary Responsibilities

Interpret and communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance issues, act as a subject matter expert, and coordinate key initiatives with facility personnel, legal, and other stakeholders for our North America facilities.
Function as a point of contact for regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation and processes, and new process and technology introductions including the preparation and submittal of reports, permits, and notifications to federal, state, and local government agencies.
Ensure environmental regulatory work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with applicable standards.
Conduct thorough and accurate internal environmental audits for continuous improvement.
Manage a risk analysis overview of environmental risks within the company based on tracking and trending of environmental issues or incidents.
Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reporting, with follow up on any corrective actions.
Ensure SPCC plans are kept up to date and training and inspections are being performed in compliance with regulations, and with follow through on any corrective actions identified.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated problem-solving ability and self-motivation in a team environment.
Basic knowledge of US environmental laws including but not limited to: Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, EPCRA, RCRA, National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
Display organizational and project management skills through complex tasks involving multiple internal and external parties.
Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
Must be able to communicate and summarize information and challenges clearly and efficiently.
Ability to travel 10-20% with valid US driver’s license.

Experience/Education

1+ year of applicable experience with environmental regulations and/or compliance programs in North America (applicable internship experience welcome).
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, or closely-related field.
Experience effectively communicating technical information including complex and changing regulatory requirements and their impacts to the company.

EdgeConneX offers a competitive benefits package. The preferred pay range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. Compensation will be finalized after consideration of the successful applicant’s prior work experience, education level and relevant education, and unique skills. EdgeConneX is committed to finding the right person for this role, and salary requests above or below this range may be considered.
