DSI Underground (a SANDVIK owned company) is one of Australia’s largest, leading manufacturers, suppliers and exporters of specialist strata reinforcement and support products to the underground coal and metalliferous mining sectors. DSI Underground also provides galvanising and other related services to the mining, civil, marine, commercial, and industrial industries.

About the Role

Based at either our Kewdale, WA or Narangba, Qld facility, and reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Advisor is responsible for implementing the company’s sustainability objectives. This will be achieved by generating ideas and processes, and by providing development, education and support to all departments.

The duties and responsibilities associated with this role will include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the implementation of sustainability projects within the business such as process optimisation, waste management, pollution prevention, energy/carbon footprint reduction, responsible sourcing of materials and providing products to customers which has reduced carbon footprint.
Providing guidance and assist sites in achieving compliance with licence conditions and best industry practices.
Managing onsite environmental management systems to keep up to date.
Investigating environment related complaints, incidents and assist team in implementing close-out actions.
Coordinating environment and sustainability projects and conduct reviews to verify benefits achieved.
Prepare reports to communicate process and outcomes of sustainability initiatives at all DSIU sites.
Create a culture that encourages innovation and adoption of best practice sustainability initiatives.
Implement initiatives that would promote DSIU as a leader in Sustainability.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity you will possess all the following attributes:

Essential:

Completed Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science / engineering or related discipline.
Minimum two years experience in environment and sustainability.
Working knowledge in sustainability area and understanding of applicable legislations and guidelines.
Knowledge of compliance and ability to deliver quality work within required deadlines.
Skills in facilitating and presenting to stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
Ability to take initiative, work both independently and as part of a team.
High level of attention to detail and an ability to interpret data and problem solve.
Ability to manage competing priorities and conflicts with other work streams.
Strong commitment and focus on achieving positive environmental and sustainable outcomes.
High-level of computer literacy with MS Office skills.

Desirable:

Experience in galvanising/heavy manufacturing industry
