Job content:

You will be responsible for research and advocacy of new or revised European environmental policies, regulations, and standards within the Logistics headquarter department in Ostend, which is part of the European Supply Centre (ESC) division.

You will research, monitor and prepare for relevant European environmental policies, regulations and standards assigned to you. This means that you will have to attend and interact with relevant associations and stakeholders and actively engage in multiple processes.

The function also requires that you regularly exchange views with relevant departments such as Environment Research Center (ERC), EMEA Development Center (EDC), the master data team (Data Control), Tax, Legal, European Freight and colleagues in the European Supply Chain (ESC) organisation. In addition, you will report within Daikin Europe, and other companies of the Daikin group on regular bases, including towards management.

Your function:

Provide accurate advice and support to the operational management and colleagues of the European Supply Chain organization on requirements of EU and U.K. F-gas regulations, packaging waste legislation, HFC taxes, plastic taxes, CBAM impact,…
Work with team members in the various countries where Daikin Europe N.V. has a warehouse and serve as the Single Point Of Contact for regulatory compliance
Assist and support with audits by internal and external bodies / parties e.g. in view of J-SOx and ISO certification
Act as legal liaison for Supply Department: secure that the various business activities of the department are in line with the Company Rules and have an open communication with DENV Legal on any internal / external (legal) risks.
Take on the role of GDPR liaison for Supply Department: liaise with the responsibles to identify which personal data is collected, processed and exchanged in the various business processes
Improve and expand the reporting on CO² emissions. Follow-up on initiatives.
Guide the impact on logistics (dangerous goods transport & storage) in our transition towards natural refrigerants, like propane (R290). (ADR and IMDG)
Collect & report on actions in the logistics environment linked to circular economy such as recovery of pallets, use of recycled materials, …

Your profile:

You hold a master’s diploma (or equivalent) and you have a passion for Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
A couple of years (3-5 years) of experience in a similar function is a plus.
You have a strong interest in Environmental Policies, regulations, and standards.
Interested in technology is nice to have in the field of for example heat pumps, air conditioners, refrigeration, ventilation.
You like to engage with people. As a diplomatic person, you have good social and communicative skills. You are a good listener and able to quickly assimilate information.
You are learning-minded, work in a pro-active and punctual way, taking initiative independently as well as in a team to detect and to implement new requirements in a timely way, often from a greenfield approach
You are eager to learn about a diverse range of topics, understand them and able to transmit the info to stakeholders with a diverse range of knowledge fields and backgrounds.
You have strong analytical skills (reporting, Excel,…)
Good knowledge of English is necessary. Knowledge of other languages is a bonus.
You are willing to make occasional short trips abroad.
