Purpose:
Crescent Point Energy is currently seeking a Surface Land Environmental Coordinator to work within our Surface Land Team. The position will be based in Calgary and be responsible for providing technical, regulatory, and environmental support for oil and gas projects through the assessment, application filing, post-filing, and post-approval stages. The successful candidate will require strong skills in process development and implementation.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

Collaborate with key internal groups responsible for engineering, land, drilling, completions, facilities, and development, through proposal, planning, and construction of projects to provide technical regulatory and environmental advice and support on projects including answering questions and queries, identifying risks and potential concerns, providing mitigation strategies and contingency planning.
Coordinate all environmental and regulatory pre-approval activities and assessments required to obtain a public land dispositions (including Wildlife Sweeps) and wetland approvals
Act as an internal sign off for environmental assessments and regulatory clearances for the development process
Communicate with regulatory agencies on pre-submission strategies, compliance requirements or clarification, follow-up of submissions under review, and work with regulatory agencies at the local, provincial, and federal level to obtain appropriate approvals and comply with the regulatory requirements of the associated project
Review all public land dispositions and associated environmental assessment reports for obligations and commitments; track and action all obligations and commitments; act as a liaison with the regulator regarding these commitments
Respond to any audits or compliance events received from the regulator in association with approvals
Provide and communicate interpretations for provincial, federal, and local regulations and regulation changes that may impact planning and development projects
Attend appropriate external and internal committee meetings
Establish and maintain relationships with government and regulatory agencies
Evaluate environmental development risks as part of acquisitions and divestitures
Recruit and manage environmental consultants; prepare Request for Proposals and evaluate bids; negotiate consultants' work scope, budget and schedule; provide ongoing management of consultants' work to meet schedule and timelines

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

5-10 years of direct experience in the areas of pre-disturbance site assessments, wildlife surveys, wetland assessments, habitat evaluation, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and environmental monitoring associated with oil and gas development
Strong understanding and of provincial and federal legislation and guidelines and previous experience with filing applications for approval under the Alberta Water Act, Public Lands Act, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Alberta Wetland Policy & Directives, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)
Proven knowledge of approval and compliance requirements regulated under Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP), Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), Canadian Energy Regulator (CER), and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA)
