Sustainability/Renewable Energy Communications & PR Account

Communications Strategy Group (CSG®), a strategic communications and marketing agency, is seeking candidates to spearhead the growth of our burgeoning sustainability & renewable energy industry group.

This position is for a senior strategist with at least six years of experience managing client relationships and growing an industry portfolio with an emphasis in strategic communications, public relations, content marketing and marketing strategy.

The ideal candidate has worked at least three years on behalf of sustainability & renewable energy clients and can serve as a trusted partner for multiple high-impact clients within this industry. The account director can lead strategy discussions and brainstorms in support of client objectives and goals. While this position will spearhead the growth of the sustainability & renewable energy industry practice, it will also work with clients in support of our aerospace & space practice.

Qualifications:

6+ years of experience in PR/media relations, strategic communications, and/or marketing; agency experience preferred
3+ years of experience within the sustainability & renewable energy industry
Have a history of securing impactful media coverage on behalf of clients
Ability to work confidently and independently in a fast-paced environment with an understanding of how to delegate and manage up as needed
Accountability and a confident presence with keen problem-solving skills and a positive attitude
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Effective presentation skills, particularly related to communications plans (skills related to concepts and digital approaches is a plus)
Strong organizational and project management skills; experience working in a project management system (e.g., Asana, Basecamp, WorkFront, etc.) a plus
A passion for finding creative solutions for clients’ problems, requests and opportunities
Curiosity to learn and stay on top of industry and client vertical trends and best practices

Whether you’re developing impactful communications strategies, crafting compelling story angles and pitching media, managing client relationships, managing a small team, coordinating projects and timelines with the Studio and Innovation teams, or immersing yourself in the latest and greatest marketing strategies or industry-focused trade publications, you’ll be a critical part of our commitment to purposeful solutions that solve our clients’ business problems.

Strategy and client management

Serve as a trusted partner for multiple high-impact clients within the sustainability & renewable energy industry, and support the company’s growing aerospace & space industry
Lead strategy discussions and brainstorms and support the development of strategic communications plans in service of client goals/objectives

Public relations

Skilled at developing compelling story angles for national, trade and local media
Have established relationships with key reporters and media outlets within the sustainability & renewable energy industry that will support clients’ goals
Build and execute strategic PR plans designed to build long-term media relations programs
Lead media training sessions with client spokespeople and provide ongoing guidance to spokespeople to improve interview skills

Marketing and social media

Develop marketing strategies that meet each client’s specific needs
Can effectively communicate strategic goals and project needs and collaborate within the sustainability & renewable energy team, and across the agency with the creative Studio and/or digital Innovation teams
Build realistic timelines and manage deadlines both internally with CSG teams and externally with clients
Reviews, references and understands tracking and reporting on ROI for clients based on specific client goals/objectives (e.g., media placements or paid digital engagements) that may inform directional shifts, when necessary

Coaching

Manage a small team of industry strategists to grow the long-term potential of the industry practice
Are skilled at understanding client objectives, expectations, and timelines, and managing work and/or other team members accordingly
