Job Description

CES is a fast-growing renewable energy O&M company based out of Houston. Mike Loeser, our President of Solar, is seeking an experienced solar maintenance technician looking for a growth opportunity to lead all preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Mike has been performing these responsibilities himself and because of our continued growth, is ready to hand the reins to someone with natural leadership qualities and a knack for solving complex technical challenges.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Train and manage solar maintenance technicians, qualifying them to perform new tasks only after they have shadowed the task being performed, performed the task under direct supervision, and demonstrated overall competence.
Oversee work performed by CES staff and subcontractors on site and ensure all consistently follow operational and safety best practices, including lock-out tag-out protocol.
Assist with the identification and assessment of potential subcontractors as needed.
Foster and drive a strong safety culture, using toolbox talks and behavioral observations to ensure all staff and subcontractors understand their role in complying with applicable safety standards and best practices.
Ensure excellent work order documentation (including photos where applicable) of all work performed, challenges encountered, parts used, suspected root cause, and any other notable conditions observed by staff while on site. This will done via daily reports and as well as a suite of other project management tools
Use remote monitoring software to narrow down the scope of necessary on-site troubleshooting, and to confirm that work performed resolved any issues affecting electricity generation.
Review, understand, and train technicians on the full maintenance scope of work outlined in service contracts and work orders.
Perform on-site maintenance to remain directly involved in day-to-day activities and identify areas for potential workflow improvement.
Schedule work on assigned contracts to allow flexibility for urgent reactive maintenance while achieving deadlines and other timing requirements for scheduled maintenance.
Review inspection and test records generated by technicians and subcontractors, using them to provide technical recommendations to leadership team.
Participate in scope of work and documentation reviews to support bid activities on new business opportunities.
Support and foster a culture in which every individual on-site is empowered and encouraged to stop the job when not comfortable with the order of operations or task at hand.
Perform quality assurance inspections on newly onboarded solar sites and prepare reports detailing any deviations from drawing sets, electrical code, or industry best practices.
Manage regional spare parts inventory and submit purchase orders for needed replacement parts.
Assist in the development of an annual budget to ensure that assigned region has suitable personal protective equipment, tools, and vehicles at all times.
Other duties as assigned.

3+ years of experience maintaining rooftop and ground-mount solar power plants, including both alternating current and direct current components.
1+ year of experience training and managing solar maintenance technicians.
High school diploma or GED.
Intimate familiarity with OSHA and NEC standards applicable to rooftop and ground-mount solar maintenance, as well as NFPA 70E.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications, and capability to learn new software programs quickly with minimal formal training.
20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses.
Ability to work outdoors, including in cold temperatures and in hot temperatures while wearing arc flash protective suits.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders necessary to access rooftop equipment.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Ability to lift 50 pounds overhead.
Ability to be on call during assigned evening and weekend hours and respond to any urgent work orders that may arise during on call time.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
