Big-D Construction is looking for a safety leader to join our team located at our Corporate Office in Salt Lake City, UT.

This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and environmental protection goals of the company and its business units (BU’s) are met. The following general duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage the development, training, implementation, and monitoring of the company’s safety programs, policies, and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with customer specific policies and rules and regulations of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Promote the company’s mission, goals, and values
Ensure consistency and high safety standards are being met throughout the company. Gather and analyze statistical data and report these to the company’s management.
Actively participate with BU HSE Directors and safety staff in the:
- Development of safety and leadership training and goals
- Analysis of BU HSE metrics and trends
- Investigation of job-related accidents and incidents, including near misses
- Identification of project specific risks and the creation of mitigation techniques
- Observation of job site safety practices
- Communication with regulatory agencies
Represent the company in local, regional, and national safety organizations and events
Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies; monitor agency safety inspection of sites; and establish a safety program in coordination with OSHA, MSHA, and others.
Compile and report the company’s data to regulatory agencies and organizations as required
Be an expert on current industry safety trends and legislation and incorporate this knowledge into the company’s safety programs
Lead crisis management teams during loss events and ensure proper communication and documentation processes are followed
Seek opportunities for continuous improvement throughout the organization by leveraging all available internal and external resources

Experience/Training

10+ years in corporate Safety Management
15+ years of experience in construction operations
Experience in managing a comprehensive safety program at a corporate level with multiple business units or entities
Possess a high level of safety education and certifications
