The Operations Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Columbia, MO as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.

The EHS Manager is responsible for creating, implementing, and executing Employee Health and Safety processes and programs that ensure a safe work environment for all employees and contractors. They will work closely with all departments in providing training, coordinating safety programs, and conducting EHS assessments / audits in a Food Manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible to ensure all facilities and reports are in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Create, implement, and manage programs associated with Employee Health and Safety
- Reviews company mandated and regulatory records for completion, accuracy, and adherence to internal processes
- Works as part of the site leadership team on proactively improving the EHS Department and production facility
- Manage and communicate company expectations and policies to 3rd party contractors
- Responsible for participating in the development of any pandemic or disaster response plans, implementation, and monitoring for compliance
- Responsible for developing content and implementing safety trainings for employees, contractors, and visitors
- Develop compliance procedures, plans, permits, and reports
- Build strong collaborative and communicative relationships with Leadership and Team members within all departments
- Coordinate employee PPE programsLead incident investigations and contribute toward identifying and implementing root cause countermeasures
- Conduct job safety analysis to proactively identify potential hazards and implement countermeasures
- Lead internal safety and compliance audits, follow-up with corrective actions to close audit findings
- Manage external vendors in support of projects and programs such as CPR training, ergonomic assessments, and first aid
- Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and EHS projects on a range of areas such as Machine Guarding, Equipment Safety, Lock Out Tag Out, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness and Response, EHS auditing, and more
- Communicate and/or coordinate with plant management Build on the safety program needs
- Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS

- Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety or Related Field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered
- 5+ years of experience working in an EHS role in a Food/Manufacturing Environment.
- 3+ years of leadership experience with training and SOP development
- Experience with OSHA, Hazardous Waste Management, Behavioral Based Safety Programs
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements
- Leadership skills, focused on results, employee engagement, decision making, and teamwork.
- Ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulations

WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas.

- Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.
- Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks.
- Position located in a mix of production and office environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.
- This position will be required to visit the production floor, refrigerated and frozen storage, and warehouses.
- Work flexible shifts as required.
- Understand that overtime and occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will be required based on company needs.
- Travel to the different facilities associated with the company will be required.

$90,000 - $105,000 a year

The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $90,000 and $105,000 The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
