We are looking for a test engineer to join us on our mission of establishing Altris as the premier Sodium-Ion Technology developer. Working alongside our growing cell development team of talented scientists and engineer, you will contribute to the advancement of commercially competitive next-generation energy storage solutions.

As a test engineer at Altris, you will be responsible for conducting and overseeing a comprehensive set of testing procedures on Altris’s Sodium Ion Battery Cell. Besides electrochemical testing, your work comprises mechanical, environmental, safety and compliance examinations. You will play an integral role across the full test cycle, this includes developing and maintaining test facilities, collaborating with external test facilities, reviewing customer requirement specifications, developing verification plans, executing tests, post-processing / analysis, reporting results, and debugging/problem solving when issues arise - all whilst ensuring safety remains the number one priority.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
Overall areas of responsibility and activities

Play an integral role in test equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
Maintain and optimize the usage of in-house test equipment.
Evaluate equipment usage and develop business cases to present to key stakeholders for the procurement of additional test equipment/capability.
Review customer requirement specifications and internal test requests with a view of standardizing
Develop test specifications using industry best practice/standards to satisfy customer or internal requirements. These test specifications will cover a broad range of disciplines including; Electrochemical, mechanical, environmental, safety and compliance.
Plan, execute and track test progress across all test disciplines and multiple projects.
Select external facilities to collaborate with when internal capabilities are insufficient. Work with external facilities to ensure tests are conducted to specification, on-time and considering available resources.
Report results in a structured, well presented, and timely manner to colleagues, key stakeholders, and customers.
When challenges/issues arise, play an active role (with cell development engineers and material experts) in solution finding, reporting and implementation of the solution. 
Supporting in the standardization of tools and methods to foster and spread best practice methods/solutions.
Champion safety across the workplace and all tests that are conducted (i.e., developing systematic risk assessments for tests and maintaining 5S methodology within the workplace).

Requirements

Education or other qualifications or competences relevant in order to succeed in the job

Qualifications, Experience and Education

BSc or MSc Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or a related field.
3+ years of testing experience on battery cell level (Li-ion or similar chemistry)
Experience with electro-chemical analysis of battery cells.
Experience working with cell performance testing equipment (i.e., Neware, Arbin, PEC)
Experience working with standards and certifications for battery cells.
Interest in the broad discipline of test engineering (electrochemical, mechanical, environmental, safety and compliance)

Founded in 2017 based on research performed at Uppsala University’s Ångström Laboratory, Altris manufactures and sells Fennac® cathode active material, and licenses battery designs for energy storage and transport applications. Together with a handful of international start-ups, Altris is a World leader in Sodium-Ion technology.
