The Role & The Team:

As an Environmental Change Specialist, you will provide technical direction, advice, support, and assistance on environmental matters to Program/Project Directors/Managers and their teams to enable effective management and mitigation of environmental risks during Capital and Operating Expenditure program projects effecting on-ground facilities, operations, and practices.

You will report to the Environment & Sustainability Principal Advisor and build effective working relationships both internally and externally.

The successful applicant will be required to:

Develop, produce, and maintain the required Environment Management System (EMS) documentation (e.g., risk screening and assessments, Environment Management Plans) for projects to a high standard.
Ensure timely environmental legislative and other obligations are identified and advice provided to the project teams to ensure compliance obligations are satisfied.
Facilitate activities for environmental hazard identification and risk management through workshops and site inspections.

The Person:

We are looking for a person who has exceptional communication and environmental risk management skills that can deliver in a collaborative manner with internal and external stakeholders. To be successful in this role you will have a diverse background in environmental management with proven abilities to design, develop and improve systems, and enjoys being part of a team to deliver on a collective vision.

The successful applicant will have:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science or Management (or equivalent), or, plus demonstrated experience in this technical discipline.
Demonstrated record of conducting environmental impact assessments.
Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of environmental. legislation and the management of environmental consents and management plans.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent ability to deliver work on schedule and work across multiple teams.
