Job Summary

The person in this position will have responsibility for all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) matters for Convatec’s Deeside operations facility.

They will be required to set and drive the implementation of a robust EHS strategy to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met while continually enhancing the sites Environment and Health & Safety culture. To be achieved through a proactive and collaborative with the site Leadership Team and active engagement with all employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include

Manage the development and delivery of EHS Procedures, Programmes and Objectives aligned with site needs.
Provide technical guidance and leadership, supporting the Deeside Leadership team maintain compliance with both company and local legislative requirements.
Demonstrate a proactive and collaborative approach with the site Leadership Team, Operations personnel, and Stakeholders, establishing robust Management Systems.
Drive the implementation of a robust site EHS strategy, delivering sustained performance improvement, supported by effective Working Practices.
Role model environment, health, and safety leadership, including championing the development of a proactive safety culture.
Ensure the site EHS management system complies with legislative, corporate requirements and recommended good practice.
Maintain EHS documentation, records and standardized Performance Metrics to provide a common basis for continual improvement and reporting
Maintain Site readiness for ISO 14001, 45001 certification audits and compliance to legal registers.
Develop and deliver site EHS plans to drive year on year performance improvement
Ensure statutory and corporate reporting requirements are fulfilled as required
Identify and share good practices and lessons learnt across the site and with other ConvaTec locations.
Support internal stakeholders and provide input as needed to ensure Risk & COSHH Assessments, along with safe working practices are actively implemented
Provide training, coaching and support for the site leadership team to fulfil their health and safety responsibilities, including supporting effective Safety Committees.
Deliver the required training related to EHS Policies, Standards, Management Systems and legal requirements for all operations personnel.
Manage the investigation of EHS incidents, ensuring timely investigation, identification of Root Causes and remedial actions to prevent recurrence.
Manage and participate in the EHS audit programme, overseeing the implementation of remedial actions addressing audit recommendations.
Lead the EHS Management Reviews, addressing gaps and opportunities
Support the professional development of all members of the site EHS team to ensure the continued provision of expert advice.

Liaise with Third Party and local officials to accomplish EHS objectives.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

Required:

Degree or NEBOSH diploma in Health and Safety
Working towards or holds Chartered Membership of IOSH

Preferred:

Degree or diploma in Environmental management.
Degree in a Process or Engineering Field

Requirements

Required:

Demonstrated experience in Leadership and Management roles, associated with EHS or Operations Management within Manufacturing Operations or Medical Devices
Proven interpersonal, relationship-building and networking skills
Ability to inspire and engage others in EHS matters
In depth knowledge of Process Safety management including DSEAR, Process Hazard Analysis.
Suitable working knowledge of all relevant EHS legislation.
Experienced in developing and maintaining EHS management systems (ISO14001, ISO45001)
Ability to translate legislative and corporate requirements into practical application
Clear and concise writing skills
Effective communication and IT skills
A practical, flexible and resourceful approach to work
Ability to build professional relationships with external agencies

Preferred:

Experience in project management would be beneficial
